cardiology Update for Allied Health Professionals

PURPOSE:

This educational activity seeks to improve understanding and skills of registered nurses and other allied healthcare professionals by describing the most recent innovations and management strategies in cardiovascular medicine.

Target Audience:

Registered Nurses. In addition, we believe that Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and other healthcare workers will find the presentations useful.

Course Objectives:

Registered Nurses and others that attend will improve their abilities to:

  • Identify the latest treatment modalities in the management of Congestive Heart Failure.
  • Differentiate between various types of stress testing, understand their indications, and describe nursing implications for each.
  • Describe common "pitfalls" with the use of cardiac medications and propose strategies for avoiding them.
  • Assess patients with implantable cardiac devices confidently and understand management strategies for device therapy.
  • Describe new guidelines for the management of atrial fibrillation.
  • Understand procedures performed in the Electrophysiology Laboratory and management of patients post-procedure.
  • Identify treatment options for coronary disease and describe risk factor management strategies.

Credit Designation Statement:

Charlotte Area Health Education Center is an approved provider of Continuing Nursing Education by the North Carolinas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. 5.4 Continuing Nursing Education Contact Hours will be awarded to RN's attending the entire conference. No partial credit will be awarded.
